TIRUPATI: Ruling party legislator

Kethireddy Venkatrami Reddy

is aiming for his third victory at the prestigious Dharmavaram assembly constituency in

Sri Sathya Sai district

, where the

NDA alliance

fielded

Y Satya Kumar

, a non local to the constituency, causing extreme heartburn among two other local aspirants Varadhapuram Suri and Paritala Sriram.
Kethireddy Venkatrami Reddy, who hails from a faction-backed political family, made his successful electoral debut in the 2009, when he first won from the Dharmavaram assembly constituency on a Congress party ticket, by defeating his political rival Gonuguntla Suryanarayana with a comfortable margin of 19172 votes.

His second electoral victory came in the 2019 elections on a

YSRCP

ticket.
Kethireddy, who is known for his extensive public outreach programmes such as "Good morning Dharmavaram", has always remained among the people by extensively visiting each and every locality at the constituency headquarters in the last five years.
Speaking to TOI, Kethireddy said out of 1.4 lakh households, 97000 households received various benefits worth approximately Rs.3000 cr during the YSRCP regime. While opposition accuse the govt of sidelining development, the Dharmavaram assembly constituency has taken centrestage in terms of development as various works worth approximately Rs.5677 cr have been executed in the constituency.

"Dharmavaram is a weavers dominant constituency. Through the Nethanna Nestham programme, we have extended Rs.24000 financial assistance every year to approximately 15000 weavers families", Kethireddy noted.
"To address the irrigation issues faced by the farmers, a major reservoir is being constructed by spending Rs.700 cr. To address the issue of power outages and ensure uninterrupted power supply to farmlands, govt spent Rs.150 cr to erect transformers and single phase meters", the Dharmavaram MLA observed.
Meanwhile, BJP candidate Y Satya Kumar has strongly countered the ruling party legislator's claims by alleging that development was completely sidelined at Dharmavaram assembly constituency during the last five years.
He accused that Kethireddy and his followers were involved in multiple land grabbing acts as well. "Being a BJP nominee, I promise to the people of the constituency that with my connections at the centre, I will be able to bring more development projects to Dharmavaram than anybody else",Satya Kumar told TOI
