A LinkedIn post shared by Mamaearth's co-founder, Ghazal Alagh has sparked controversy after it was portrayed in a different light by Prakriti Sharma, an AI engineer at Tata Consultancy Services. It all began when Sharma criticised Alagh for prioritising a photo shoot during her pregnancy, accusing her of neglecting her child's well-being in favour of ‘seeking validation’ from social media.

Sharma's post garnered attention after she reposted Alagh's pregnancy photo shoot, expressing disapproval of Alagh's actions. She called out what she perceived as Alagh's decision to prioritse external validation over her child's welfare, labelling it as "absolute nonsense."

“I find it absolute nonsense that a pregnant lady would prioritise a shoot for the external world to see, over her own child's well-being. Posting about being stupid and harsh on herself during pregnancy and seeking validation for the same from the internet makes it even awful to watch. Ladies please be mindful about who you look up to & do not follow any b*** advice served on the internet,” Sharma wrote in the caption.

Alagh had earlier shared her experiences during pregnancy, discussing how she embraced opportunities, including participating in Shark Tank India, during her eighth month of pregnancy. She aimed to challenge the notion that women become less capable during pregnancy and inspire others to break such stereotypes.

However, Sharma's critique sparked backlash from several individuals who disagreed with her perspective. Many felt that Sharma's criticism was unwarranted and insensitive, particularly considering Alagh's efforts to challenge societal norms and inspire women in similar situations.

While some advocate for women's empowerment and the freedom to pursue opportunities regardless of pregnancy, others believe in prioritising maternal well-being above all else. And the debate continues.
