Apple may bring this Android-like battery feature to iPhone with iOS 19 at WWDC 2025

Apple is reportedly developing an AI-powered battery management system for

iOS 19

that mirrors Android's long-standing

Adaptive Battery

feature, according to Bloomberg. The new functionality, expected to roll out in September, aims to intelligently optimize

iPhone battery

life by analyzing individual usage patterns. The system will collect battery data from users' devices to identify trends and make predictive adjustments to conserve energy, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported Monday. Similar to Android's approach, the feature will intelligently lower power consumption for specific applications based on how users interact with their devices.Apple's implementation will reportedly include a lock screen indicator showing estimated charging time, providing users with clearer expectations about when their device will reach full power.

iPhone will learn its user’s pattern to better the battery life with iOS 19's battery AI

Much like Android's Adaptive Battery, iPhone’s AI will learn which apps drain battery most aggressively and limit their background activities accordingly. The AI system will analyze usage patterns - tracking which apps are used most frequently and how long they're active - to make intelligent power management decisions.Android's implementation currently restricts background processes for power-hungry apps and can even slightly throttle performance to extend battery life. Apple's version appears to be taking a similar approach by analyzing when users typically charge their devices and adjusting power consumption to ensure the battery lasts until then. The feature seems strategically timed with Apple's upcoming iPhone 17, per Bloomberg, and as per rumours the said model will feature a significantly slimmer design with smaller battery capacity than standard and Pro models. While primarily designed to address potential battery concerns with the thinner iPhone 17, the feature will be available across all iOS 19-compatible devices.Apple is expected to officially unveil iOS 19 at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference in June.
