NEW YORK (PIX11) – Alexander Hamilton's legacy is a permanent fixture in New York City – and not just through the hit Broadway musical, "Hamilton."
The Founding Father is also buried in the Big Apple. Hamilton, born in 1755, was raised in the Caribbean until moving to New York City in 1773 to attend what's now Columbia University, according to the National Park Service.
He would later fight in the Revolutionary War, where he met George Washington for the first time. Hamilton passed the New York bar in 1782 and was later chosen as a delegate for the state.
Although he wasn't part of the writing of the Constitution, he pushed for its ratification, according to the National Park Service. Hamilton would go on to become the first Secretary of the Treasury in 1789 before resigning from government in 1795.
He died in 1804 during a duel with Aaron Burr, the vice president of Thomas Jefferson.

Hamilton would be buried in New York City after his death. But where is his grave?
Hamilton was buried in Trinity Church, which is located across the road from Wall Street in Manhattan.
He was an active member of the church, according to the church's website, along with his wife Eliza Hamilton and children. Eliza Hamilton was also buried at Trinity Church, according to the National Park Service.

Hamilton's son, Philip, is on Trinity Church's burial registry but it's not known where exactly he was buried. He died during a duel and might be buried in an unmarked grave or outside the church, possibly due to dishonor, per the National Park Service.
