assistant sub inspector Sanjay Kumar Rawat averted a major accident when a

's foot slipped while attempting to board a moving train at

Prayagraj

junction on Sunday.

The

incident

occurred on April 14, when 63-year-old Sajjan Kumar Shekhawat, a resident of Jaipur stepped down from the Guwahati-Bikaner train no.

15634 at Prayagraj junction on

platform

no. 1 to purchase food. The train, which had arrived at the station at 11.18 am, was on schedule and departed around 11.35 am.
When the train left the station, the elderly man tried to grab the handle of the AC coach, he struggled to maintain his balance and was at risk of falling into the gap between the platform and the train. It was during this time that

ASI Sanjay Kumar Rawat

's swift actions and exemplary courage prevented Sajjan Kumar from being struck by the train, ultimately saving his life.
