Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) officers raided a resort of former Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra's son in connection with a Rs 2.5 crore tax evasion case.

The raids at the Imperial Golf Resort located on the Gwalior National Highway were carried out by an 11-member team from CGST Bhopal and went on throughout Monday night.

The former minister's son Anshuman Mishra and builder Rohit Badhwa, who are directors of the resort, were present at the spot at the time of the raids. Anshuman Mishra became the director of the resort in 2021.

The officers also looked at billing irregularities at the resort and seized some documents. Sources said some parts of the resort, including the rooms, could also be sealed. The officers are accessing the penalty interest to be levied on the resort.

Meanwhile, another property of Badhwa has also come under the radar of the CGST.

The raids were carried out after it came to light that the resort was collecting taxes by violating GST rules and regulations.
