A woman shared a wholesome journey of her former student on X, tracing her transformation over the span of 13 years. In her series of posts that she shared on Thursday, X user Revs shared Alisha's story from being "one of the naughtiest kids" in her class to a special needs teacher.
Revs also posted two pictures featuring herself and Alisha, who had a reputation for her fiery personality and impatience. Speaking about Alisha, Revs said, "Other teachers in school warned me about Alisha. She was a fire brand."
Revs went on to describe Alisha as she said, "she was her own boss. Doing what she wanted to do when she wanted to do it." She called her incredibly smart but with no patience for anything.
Revs expressed her concerns for Alisha's future, wondering if she would find purpose in education. She wondered if she "could do something to help her better the circumstances of her life".
Two years after Revs fellowship ended at an institute, she received an essay from a teacher from the institute written by Alisha on the topic 'Which person do you admire the most.' The letter deeply moved her, as Alisha wrote about Revs in her essay.
Revs said she was distressed thinking whether Alisha would overcome the challenges she faced at home, including a deadbeat father and a mother working long hours selling fish.
As the years passed, Alisha navigated through college during the pandemic, feeling lost and uncertain about her path. However, in 2024, Alisha's journey came full circle as she became a teacher at a prestigious school in Mumbai, specialising in working with children with special needs.
When asked why she chose teaching, especially with such children, Alisha credited Revs for believing in her.
Alisha expressed her desire to support children deemed "naughty" and underestimated by others.
In her trademark tapori style, Alisha told Revs, "Didi, I've always wanted to be a teacher like you, and I've always wanted to be a teacher for kids who everyone thought were naughty and not capable of doing anything. You believed in me and loved me and didn't treat me like a nuisance."
Revs, in her post, said when she chose to become a teacher in 2011, she didn't think of all the amazing, profound and meaningful ways in which it would change her life.
"The deep love, compassion, and forgiveness I received from the children I taught, their parents, and the many ways in which it fundamentally changed me as a person," Revs said in her post.
Her post went viral on social media with over 63k views. People thanked Revs for making them smile after reading the post and said, "Sometimes our tiniest efforts leave major imprints, and we don't even realise them".
