, as he embarks on his second innings after reaching the age milestone of 60. Renowned for his charismatic stage presence, poetic flair, and notable appearance alongside Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan in the film 'Dangal,' Rathee leaves behind a
legacy
that has touched the hearts of millions.
Originally from Garhwali Khera in Jind, Rathee began his journey at Rohtak University as a supervisor on November 13, 1990, following a brief stint in Mumbai's acting scene. Over his 34-year tenure, witnessing the leadership of ten vice-chancellors, Rathee's prominence soared when he landed a role in the 2016 blockbuster 'Dangal,' portraying a corrupt government official. He was recently awarded a lifetime achievement award by the current vice-chancellor, Prof Rajbir Singh, for Rathee's contribution to the varsity with his versatility.
Throughout his illustrious career, Rathee maintained an untarnished reputation, starring in over a dozen
Haryanvi films
, inspiring 30 dedicated songs, and penning a novel titled 'Yudhvir,' depicting the struggles of a soldier. His poetry collection, 'Mati ka Chulah,' resonated deeply with audiences, cementing his place in their hearts indefinitely.
Beyond the silver screen, Rathee served as the director of Haryana Kala Parishad during the Indian National Lok Dal regime, facilitating cultural exchanges with Pakistan. His Haryanvi compositions garnered equal admiration across borders, captivating audiences with their charm and authenticity.
