In 2024,

Ajay Devgn

's year started strong note with his film 'Shaitaan' earning over Rs 150 crore at the Indian box office. However, his second film '

Maidaan

' opened to a lukewarm response, earning just Rs 4.5 crore on Eid.
By the end of its extended first week, Maidaan had collected Rs 28.35 crore, and in the second week, it added Rs 10.25 crore. Its total figures now stand at an estimated Rs 38.55 crore.

The film crossed the Rs 40 crore mark over its third weekend, but faced a significant drop in collections on Monday, earning just Rs 50 lakh.
However, it saw a 40% jump on Tuesday, collecting Rs 70 lakh. The total collection of Maidaan now stands at Rs 43.95 crore, far below its reported budget of Rs 100 crore. Despite the setback, the film has been raking in a lot more at the box office than

Akshay Kumar

's 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan'. However, the film has not managed to beat the action flick's overall collections, owing to the huge difference in the opening weekend collections.

Maidaan is based on the life of Syed

Abdul Rahim

, the architect of the golden period of Indian football which lasted from 1952 to 1962, the film was backed by

Boney Kapoor

and directed by

Amit Ravindernath Sharma

of

Badhaai Ho

fame. Besides Ajay, the film also stars Priya Raj Mani, Chaitanya Sharma aka Rapper SlowCheeta and

Gajraj Rao

.
Ajay was supposed to have three more releases this year - Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, Raid 2 and Singham Again. According to the latest reports, buzz is that at least one of these will be pushed to 2025.
