in the lead, will have its theatrical release on June 27, 20024.
As promised, the team on Saturday, shared a new poster featuring the lead trio and announced the new release date, following a series of delays in production. The new poster sees Prabhas front and centre as Bhairava, who takes on the alter ego Kalki in the film.

He is joined by Deepika, who plays Padma and Amitabh, assuming the role of the enigmatic and immortal being, Ashwatthama.
"All the forces come together for a better tomorrow on 27-06-2024," read the official post.

Going by recent buzz, the film will see the three characters team up to take on a common villain played Kamal Haasan who reportedly assumes the antagonist's role of 'Kali'.
The announcement, made today, precisely two months ahead of the release.

The announcement might not come as a surprise to many as rumours began to swirl last month, that the makers were planning a June 2024 release, after being unable to meet the May 6 release.

While the makers have dropped several teasers, first-look photos and character posters, a trailer is still awaited. Just last week, the makers gave fans a look at Bachchan's character in the film and teased an epic transformation for the megastar. The team has seemingly used de-aging techniques to feature Amitabh in his 'angry young man' avatar.

Originally titled 'Project K', the film is set in the distant future 'When the world is taken over by darkness', as teased in the first clip at ComiCon. Produced on a reported budget of Rs 600 crore, '

2898 AD' is now the most expensive Indian movie to date.
The film was slated for a worldwide release on January 12, 2024, however, owing to delays, the makers chose to shift the release to May 2024, and finally settled for June 2024 owing to production delays and last minute shoots.
The film will have a wide global release in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and English. The film's musical score has been composed by Santhosh Narayanan.
