MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Streamer Kai Cenat will not be prosecuted for his accused role in inciting a riot and unlawful assembly after a massive crowd descended into chaos during his video game console giveaway event at Union Square in Manhattan in August, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
Cenat, Denzel Dennis and Muktar Din agreed to pay over $57,000 in restitution along with posting a public apology on Snapchat that will remain up for 24 hours, according to officials.
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office said Din and Dennis will repost Cenat's apology. Cenat will pay $55,000 to the Union Square Partnership, and Dennis and Din each paid $1,049.50.
"The total restitution of $57,099 covers the landscaping damage and additional staff hours needed for clean-up. All of the restitution payments have already been made," The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office said.
A massive crowd estimated to be in the thousands gathered at Union Square Park on Aug. 4, prompting police to respond in riot gear as tensions soared, objects were hurled and property was damaged.
Officials said the case will be officially dismissed after the apology post is up for 24 hours, around 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
