Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was over the moon after he met MS Dhoni following the IPL 2024 match between Mumbai and Chennai on Sunday, April 14 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Bumrah, who recently picked up a 5-wicket haul against RCB, uploaded a picture with the former CSK skipper to show his delight.
“Met Mahi bhai after so long, felt good to catch up,” Bumrah wrote.
Dhoni grabbed the headlines after he scored an unbeaten 20 off 4 balls with 3 sixes against MI. After he came out to bat in the last over of CSK’s innings, the 42-year-old took Hardik Pandya to the cleaners, hitting the pacer for 3 sixes in a row.
On the back of Dhoni’s knock, Chennai put up a huge score of 206 for 4 on the board. Thereafter, CSK restricted MI to 186 for 6 after Matheesha Pathirana picked up 4 wickets.

After the match, CSK bowling coach Eric Simons heaped praise on Dhoni for being able to tee off right from the word go.
“To go out there and hit the first ball like that for six and continue the way he did was exceptional. He has been batting exceptionally well in the nets all the way through, pre-season and into the tournament. It was just another unbelievable MS Dhoni moment,” Simons said.
Dhoni completed 5000 runs for CSK and also became the first Indian to hit 3 sixes in a row in the first 3 balls of an IPL innings.
Jasprit Bumrah shining for Mumbai
As far as Bumrah is concerned, he has been stupendous for MI until now. However, he has lacked support from the other end. On Sunday, Bumrah finished with economical figures of 4-0-27-0, although he failed to make a breakthrough.
In 6 matches in IPL 2024, Bumrah has taken 10 wickets at an economy rate of 6.08. Gerald Coetzee has 9 wickets to his name, but at an economy rate of 10.26.
