The Atlanta Falcons have yet to reveal their hand ahead of the 2025 NFL draft, but they've stayed busy scouting prospects over the last few weeks. In today's Falcons recap, we examine the market for Kirk Cousins now that the Cleveland Browns have added a veteran quarterback, check out a few mock drafts and the team's latest pre-draft visits.
Browns sign Joe Flacco: Cousins off the table?
The Cleveland Browns have been considered the most likely landing spot for Kirk Cousins all offseason, but that may no longer be the case now that they brought back veteran Joe Flacco. The Browns signed Flacco to a one-year, $4 million contract on Friday, and while that doesn't completely close the door on a potential trade, it's definitely less likely. Cleveland traded for Kenny Pickett earlier in the offseason and could still draft a quarterback in the first round. For now, Cousins will remain in Atlanta.
Updated starting lineup projection: New starting nickel
The Falcons re-signed Dee Alford after letting the veteran cornerback test free agency. Head coach Raheem Morris previously said the team would look at Clark Phillips III and MIke Hughes in the slot, but Alford's return seemingly takes that off the table. Alford, a former undrafted free agent, has appeared in 48 games over the last three seasons. However, the secondary will look slightly different after adding veteran safety Jordan Fuller in free agency. Check out our latest pre-draft starting lineup projections for Atlanta.
Falcons upgrade defense in Kiper's 2-round mock draft
NFL draft analysts continue to project edge rushers to Atlanta in the first round. ESPN's Mel Kiper released a new two-round mock draft that has the Falcons taking Marshall EDGE Mike Green at pick No. 15. In Round 2, Kiper projected Notre Dame defensive back Benjamin Morrison to Atlanta at pick No. 46.
"Morrison looked like a first-rounder early in the 2024 season, before a hip injury ended his campaign," wrote Kiper. "He's an extremely talented press corner with good technique.
