'Drunk' businessman throws son's friend off UP hotel roof after spat

The son of a local businessman was critically injured after being thrown from the terrace of a five-star hotel in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly. CCTV footage circulating on social media appears to show the incident.

Police said the altercation began between Sarthak Aggarwal and his friend, Riddim Arora, during a pre-wedding celebration at the hotel on Sunday. Arora then reportedly called his father, Satish Arora, who arrived at the scene and, along with his son, assaulted Aggarwal.

The victim's father, Sanjay Aggarwal, claims his son apologised to Sanjeev Arora but was then pushed off the terrace.

"You can see in the CCTV footage that there was a spat between my son and his friend," Sanjay Aggarwal said. "My son apologised by touching his friend's father's feet. But the other man became very agitated, and he dragged my son to the railing and pushed him from a height of 25 feet, due to which he suffered serious injuries. There were no security personnel present there."

Sarthak Aggarwal is undergoing treatment at a local medical college, and his condition remains critical, his father said.

A case has been registered against Sanjeev Arora and his son under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with attempted murder. No arrests have been made so far and an investigation is on.

Police said the accused father-son duo were inebriated at the time of the incident.

While the victim’s father Sanjay Aggarwal owns a chemical business, accused Sanjeev Arora is a textile businessman based in Janakpuri.
