With 4996 runs to his name in 249 matches played so far, Dhoni is on the brink of the significant milestone.
If he manages to score at least four runs during match No. 29 of
IPL 2024
, Dhoni will join his former teammate Raina in the elite 5000-run club. Raina, during his illustrious playing days, amassed 5529 runs in 200 matches for CSK.
Dhoni's potential achievement would also see him become the fourth Indian cricketer to surpass the 5000-run mark for one team in the shortest format of the game, following in the footsteps of
