The Madhya Pradesh government on Friday announced a hike in the Dearness Allowance (DA) by 4 per cent for all the government employees in the state. With the latest hike, the DA in the state has reached 46 per cent.
As per a government notification, the increased allowance will come into effect from March 1, 2024, and will be paid in the month of April 2024.
"It has been decided to increase the rate of dearness allowance payable to government servants by 4%. After this increase, the rate of dearness allowance will be 46% from July 1, 2023. Its benefits will be available from March 1, 2024 (payment April, 2024). Congratulations to all the government servants of the state," Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Notably, the announcement comes a day ahead of the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MMC) as the Election Commission will announce the schedule for the April-May Lok Sabha polls on Saturday.
The increase in allowance will benefit nearly 7.5 lakh government employees in Madhya Pradesh.
