HOLBROOK, Long Island (PIX11) -- A Long Island couple is now facing manslaughter charges after they "recklessly caused the death of their son," according to Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney.
Wilkens Adonis and Daryllee Leibrock, both 38, allegedly had drugs in the bedroom of their Hollbrook home, where the toddler, Joseph Adonis, was found unresponsive on the morning of Jan. 3, prosecutors said. The boy was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.
After an autopsy was performed by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office, it found that the toddler had a mixture of heroin, cocaine and fentanyl in his system. This discovery alleges that the boy's parents recklessly caused the death of their son, according to officials.
Officials said the alleged crimes are not eligible for bail under state law.
Wilkens Adonis and Daryllee Leibrock are both charged with the following:
- One count of manslaughter in the second degree
- Two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree (intent to sell)
- Two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree
- Two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree (intent to sell)
- One count of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree
- Six counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree
- Two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree
- Two counts of endangering the welfare of a child
- Two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree
- Two counts of failure to safely store rifles, shotguns, and firearms in the first-degree
They are both due back in court on May 14.
