A high school student in California was detained after a "disturbing video" of him slapping his female class teacher went viral on social media. In the clip, the student, who is said to be a minor, can be seen confronting his teacher and violently attacking her.

Despite being struck multiple times, the teacher appears unfazed, calmly responding to the student's verbal and physical assault.

"Do you think that affected me anyway," the teacher can be heard telling the accused student after the initial impact in the viral video. To this, the juvenile asked "Want me to hit you again?" and slapped the educator for the second time, knocking her glasses off.

"The *** is wrong with you, what you gonna do, still sit in that chair cause you a ****. Ain't nobody even coming, you got slapped," the student screams thereafter.

The students filming the incident responded to the slaps with laughter, capturing the classroom assault on camera.

The accused student was charged with three misdemeanours, including assault on a government official, communicating threats, and two counts of misdemeanour assault, Forsyth Sheriff’s Office said soon after the video went viral.

"We all agree that the incident was deplorable and outrageous to the community and community organisations. All of us should be outraged when those who educate us can be assaulted," the New York Post quoted Sheriff Bobby F. Kimbrough Jr. as saying.

Furthermore, the Parkland High School Principal, Noel Keener, also warned that the accused student would face disciplinary action and said that his behaviour did not display the school’s expectations of its students.

"Please know this video is not reflective of our expectations of students at Parkland High School. We are working with the district staff to address this immediately and ensure behaviour like this is not tolerated in our school and district," Keener said, according to The New York Post.
