GADAG: Four persons, including a BJP functionary's son, were killed in Karnataka's Gadag town on Friday.
The victims are Kartik Bakale, 27, son of Gadag-Betgeri city municipal council vice-president (BJP) Sunanda Bakale, and relatives Parashuram Hadimani, 58, his wife Laxmibai, 50, and their daughter Akanksha, 17. Kartik's father Prakash was the council's ex-vice-president.

Police said family members heard banging on the door around 2.15am. Fearing an attack by robbers, they called police. However, the

assailants

entered the

house

by breaking open a window of a room on the first floor in which the Hadimanis were sleeping and stabbed them. Hearing their screams, Kartik, who was sleeping on the ground floor, rushed up only to be killed. The assailants then rushed downstairs and tried to

break

open Prakash's door. By this time cops arrived, and the killers fled.
Cops ruled out robbery being the crime's motive.
