NEW DELHI: A
17-year-old boy
on Wednesday was
arrested
on counts of conspiring to murder after three people were
injured
in a suspected
stabbing
at a school in Northern England. The incident also follows a similar incident in Wales days back, where two teachers and a student were stabbed.
According to the
police
, the boy was detained following reports of three people being injured at Birley Community College in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
The police intimated that they were reported of an incident 'involving a sharp object' at 8.50 am(0750 GMT).
Following the incident, two adults and a child also were checked at the scene after suffering minor injuries, the local police was quoted as saying.
The school later said that it went into lockdown following the violence, before closing for the day.
"The safety of students and staff is paramount and all students and staff are safe," said a spokesperson for the school.
Education Secretary Gillian Keegan wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that she was "disturbed" by the incident.
"We're in touch with the school and my thoughts are with those injured and all the school community affected by this frightening situation," she wrote.
A 13-year-old girl appeared in court for the first time on Friday in Wales for three counts of
attempted murder
following the stabbing of two teachers and a pupil at a secondary school.
The attack happened at the Amman Valley School in Ammanford, which is located north of Swansea, shortly after 11:00 in the morning on April 24.
