Despite BJP candidates tasting defeat in several seats in Maharashtra amid new political alignments, Raksha Khadse was its face of resilience. The two-time BJP MP from Maharashtra's Raver won the 2024 Lok Sabha election by a massive margin of nearly 3 lakh votes.

Now, Raksha Khadse is joining Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ministry in its hat-trick term.

Raksha is the daughter-in-law of Eknath Khadse, an NCP leader of the Sharad Pawar faction who has decided to switch back to the BJP.

Her husband, Nikhil Khadse, died in 2013.

Raksha Khadse has been noticed for her personal strength and resilience. Her photos with her two small children in her arms became social media hits, highlighting her ability to balance her personal life with her political responsibilities.

Raksha Khadse was born in Khetia, Madhya Pradesh.

Her political career began at the grassroots level, where she served as the Sarpanch of Kothadi village and later as a member of the Jalgaon Zila Parishad.

Her early success in local politics led to her election as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, where she defeated Manish Jain of the NCP by a significant margin of 318,608 votes.

At the age of 26, she became one of the youngest MPs in the 16th Lok Sabha, along with Heena Gavit.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Khadse was re-elected for a second term as MP of Raver Lok Sabha. She defeated Ulhas Patil of the Congress by a margin of 335,882 votes.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, she retained her Raver seat, defeating the nearest NCP-Sharad Pawar candidate by a margin of 2,72,183 votes.

According to her X profile, Raksha Khadse is passionate about women empowerment, child education and farmers' welfare.

Khadse's political priorities include addressing water shortages in the Jalgaon region and improving road connectivity, which she believes is essential for infrastructure and education. She has also managed to get part-funding for an irrigation plant in Raver.

Raksha Khadse, a three-time BJP MP, joining Narendra Modi's Union ministry is a reward for her resilience.
