messages? Worry no more, as we've gathered some simple tips and tricks to help keep your WhatsApp chats safe and secure. WhatsApp, the Meta-owned messaging and calling app, is one of the most popular platforms for messaging, calling, and sharing media. It continuously rolls out new features to keep users engaged.
Despite WhatsApp's assurances of chat safety, recent incidents have raised concerns among users about the confidentiality of their personal messages.

While Meta maintains that WhatsApp chats are secure, they acknowledge that chats can be vulnerable to hacking if backed up on Google Drive or iCloud. Therefore, it's crucial for users to take additional steps to safeguard their messages.
Here are some straightforward methods to ensure your chats remain protected from hackers and unauthorised access.

Tips to keep your WhatsApp chats safe

WhatsApp end-to-end encryption

Did you know that your chats can still be hacked if they're backed up on iCloud or Google Drive? The best way to safeguard your messages is by enabling end-to-end encryption for backups, which ensures that even cloud storage providers can't access your backed-up chats. To activate end-to-end encrypted backups, go to Settings > Chat > Chat Backup.

Enable disappearing messages

Enable the 'Disappearing Messages' feature on WhatsApp to prevent archiving private conversations. You can set a timer for messages to automatically delete after one, seven, or ninety days. This feature also applies to all multimedia files shared in the conversation.

Turn on the Chat Lock

To enhance the security of your private chats, enable the chat lock feature. Simply select the chat you wish to lock, and choose the 'Lock Chat' option. Once activated, the selected chat will be locked and only you will have access to it.

Enable call relay feature

To make it harder for hackers to trace you, enable the 'Protect IP Address in Calls' feature. Navigate to Settings > Privacy > Calls and turn on this option.

Silence unknown calls

To prevent spam and unknown calls, activate the 'Silence Unknown Callers' feature. Navigate to Settings > Privacy > Calls and enable this option.
