NEW DELHI: Swashbuckling India opener

Yashasvi Jaiswal

was at his brutal best as his second successive double hundred helped India set a monstrous 557-run target for England on the penultimate day of the Rajkot Test on Sunday.
Going hammer and tongs against the English bowlers, Jaiswal smacked 14 fours as 12 sixes on his way to an unbeaten 214 as India declared their second innings at 430 for four in the second session.

Amid his carnage at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Jaiswal spared no one and even took on England veteran

James Anderson

.
The young India opener put Anderson to the sword during his blitz as he humiliated the England pacer, firing three consecutive sixes in the 85th over of the innings.

Jaiwal kicked off the six-fest in the Anderson over with a sweep six over deep square-leg second-ball. The low full-toss was timed superbly from the left-hander as the ball sailed over the fence. He then carved the very next Anderson delivery over deep extra cover as the ball just managed to clear the ropes. The hat-trick of sixes came when Jaiswal swatted the fourth ball of the over down town for a flat six.

With a total of 12 gigantic maximums, Jaiswal became the first Indian batter to smash 10+ sixes in an innings of a Test match.
After previously scoring 209 in Vizag, Jaiswal's second double ton also helped him join an elite list as he became the third Indian batter to score a double hundred in successive Tests after Vinod Kambli and

Virat Kohli

.
