A video of a woman engaging in a heated argument with traffic police officers and subsequently attempting to run over one of them in Pakistan has surfaced on the internet. The woman, identified as Farah, was arrested on April 24 as the video of the incident went viral.

The Islamabad Traffic Police confirmed that the incident occurred on January 1, 2024, and the accused driver has been “arrested and charged,” Geo News reported.

The woman, who was allegedly issued a speeding ticket, lashed out at a police officer as seen in the video.

“Respect kiya karein. Khabardaar jo bakwaas ki. Shut up. Aapne bohat kuch kahaa hai. Apne uniform ki respect kiya karein (Respect people. Don’t talk nonsense. You have said a lot of things. Respect your uniform),” she screamed.

The police officer attempted to respond, but she cut him right away, without allowing him a moment to speak. She started her car while directing patrolling officer Muhammad Sabir standing in front of the vehicle to move. Sabir refused, but she just wouldn’t budge as she rammed her car into the officer, tossing him aside.

Leaving him injured, she fled the scene through a broken toll plaza barrier.

The viral video caused severe outrage, with social media users expressing their anger towards the woman for her behaviour.

In a statement issued on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Rawalpindi Police said that the woman was absconding to avoid arrest after a case was registered at the Naseerabad Police Station on January 2.

RPO Rawalpindi Babar Sarfraz Alpa, headed by SSP Operations, had formed a special team to arrest the accused. Naseerabad Police traced the accused using modern technology, the statement said.

“No one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands. Indiscriminate action will be taken against those challenging the writ of law,” Rawalpindi Police said in their statement.
