A loaded truck plunged into a gorge at Sinam village, Manipur due to the force of mudslides triggered by the heavy rainfall.

Torrential rains brought by Cyclone Remal have caused severe disruptions in Manipur, resulting in landslides and mudslides along NH-37.

The incident occurred around 10 am. The truck travelling from Imphal to Jiribam, was swept down into the gorge by the mudslides. The truck driver, Islammuddin and his assistant had abandoned the vehicle moments before the landslide hit, according to police reports. No casualties were reported.

Numerous vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road, waiting for excavators to clear the debris. The cyclone, which made landfall on the night of May 27, caused significant damage in the region. Strong winds uprooted trees and house roofs, and heavy rain disrupted electricity and broadband services, paralysing normal life. Several districts, including Imphal West, Imphal East, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, and Ukhrul, are experiencing flood-like conditions.
