MUMBAI: Observing that her absence is hampering the

court proceedings

and her presence is required to record her final statement, a

special court

on Wednesday directed the NIA to verify the

health condition

of BJP MP

Pragya Singh Thakur

.
She failed to appear before the court to record her final statement as an accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case.

The court passed the order after Thakur moved another plea seeking an exemption from appearance on Wednesday, submitting a certificate which said that she was suffering from cervical spondylitis and migraine and hence was advised complete rest.
While the judge allowed the plea, it was also observed that the prosecution’s submissions could not be overlooked. The prosecution had submitted that a verification report from the NIA in Bhopal be called as she Singh had not appeared before the court since long and it was causing a delay in the trial.
