CHENNAI: VCK founder leader
Thol Thirumavalavan
and party general secretary D
Ravikumar
will seek re-election from
Chidambaram
and
Villupuram
constituencies respectively under the alliance led by the
DMK
in the ensuing 2024
Lok Sabha polls
.
Making an announcement in this regard at a press conference in Chennai on Tuesday, Thirumavalavan expressed optimism that the DMK-led alliance would win all 40 Lok Sabha constituencies, including Puducherry, in the forthcoming polls.
He said he had contested six times from Chidambaram and won twice and Ravikumar was contesting from Villupuram for the second time.
The two will contest on the party’s pot symbol this time. Last time, Thirumavalavan contested on the pot symbol managed to win by a narrow margin while Ravikumar contested in DMK’s rising sun symbol and won by a huge margin.
He believed the battle was not between the INDIA bloc and the BJP-led NDA in the Lok Sabha polls but between the people and Sangh Parivar.
Thirumavalavan said he was surprised that PMK had joined the BJP-led NDA despite knowing that the saffron party promoted religion-based politics and divided people on religious and caste lines.
