The Upper Burtuk constituency, situated in Sikkim's East district, is among the 32 seats forming the Sikkim assembly. Categorized as an unreserved seat, it counted 15,231 voters in the 2019 election.
The assembly elections for Upper Burtuk constituency took place on April 19 in the first phase of voting.
During the 2019 Sikkim elections, Dilli Ram Thapa, representing the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), emerged victorious in the Upper Burtuk constituency with 6,107 votes. Nagendra Bikram Gurung, the candidate from the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), secured the runner-up position with 5,350 votes.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Prem Singh Tamang of SKM emerged victorious after securing 5,272 votes. He defeated SDF’s D.R. Thapa by a margin of 573 votes.
