LUCKNOW: Union home minister
Amit Shah
on Saturday said Uttar Pradesh has transformed from a state known for producing
countrymade pistols
(katta) to one manufacturing
cannon balls
now.
Addressing an election rally in Lalitpur in support of BJP’s Jhansi candidate Anurag Sharma, Shah said, “There was a time when countrymade pistols were produced in UP but PM Narendra Modi built a
defence corridor
in Bundelkhand and now cannon balls are made here.” .
He added that “If Pakistan makes any mistake”, the shells made in Bundelkhand will be used to ‘destroy’ the country.
At a rally in Jhansi, in an apparent reference to Congress functionaries, he asked Bundelkhand voters to fight the “desi Angrez” just like they fought against the Mughals and the British. “Isi Bundelkhand ne mughalon se ladai ladi, angrezon se ladai ladi ab humare desh mein ye jo desi angrez hain unse ladai ladni hai,” Shah said.
He told voters they have a choice to make between two categories of leaders: One, who was behind Rs 12 lakh crore scam, born with silver spoons, and spent vacations in Thailand. Second is Narendra Modi, whose tenure as CM and PM has been unblemished, was born in a poor house and never took a holiday.
Attacking the Samajwadi Party, Shah described it as a party which ordered firing on Ram Bhakts in Ayodhya (in 1990). Then we have Modi, who got the Ramjanmabhoomi case pursued, won it, and eventually got a temple constructed,” Shah said.
Shah reiterated that opposition parties skipped the Ram temple consecration ceremony for the sake of their vote bank which includes “intruders from Bangladesh”. He said Congress’s vote bank politics stands exposed as its leaders advocate keeping distance from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir because “Pakistan has an atom bomb”. “We are not afraid of their vote bank. We would take back the PoK, which is an integral part of India,” he said.
Shah claimed that after four phases, BJP has managed to win 270 seats while the INDIA bloc has been completely wiped out. “Now it is sure that Modi will become PM for the third consecutive time and make India the third largest economy in the world," he said.
The home minister said there was a time when Bundelkhand was infamous for ‘bahubalis’. “Give us the mandate and we will ensure that Bundelkhand will give ‘udyogpatis’ (industrialists),” he said, adding that the region would soon be known for the Defence Corridor that would wheel out state-of-the-art weapons.
In Banda, Shah reached out to the women voters saying that it was the BJP who empowered them by giving them 33% reservation in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. He took a potshot at the opposition for not having a definite PM candidate. “If voted to office, they would make their leaders PM one-by-one every year,” he said. “There cannot be a PM stronger than Modi, who has a 56-inch chest,” he said.
Shah said the third term will see water supply being provided to every agricultural land with effective implementation of the Ken-Betwa link project.
