HYDERABAD: Two

Indian students

pursuing their studies in New Jersey, USA, were

arrested

by the police in an alleged

shoplifting

case. One of the girls, aged 20, studied in Hyderabad before moving to the US for her further studies. The other is a 22-year-old from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh.
Both Telugu girls were arrested after they were alerted by the Hoboken ShopRite that the two girls had not paid for certain items they had purchased.

The Hoboken city police department, which went to the shop, explained to the girls that what they had done was a crime and that they would be produced in court.
One of the girls tried to explain that they would pay double for not having paid for the items earlier. Another tried to tell the police that they would not do it again and that they should be allowed to go. However, the police explained the legal procedures to them and arrested them.
The incident took place on March 19.
