Two held by forest dept for poaching frogs

Margao/Canacona: Two persons were booked under the

Wildlife Protection Act

by the

forest department

for

poaching frogs

in the fields at Quitol, Betul, on Saturday.
Forest officials said that Ulderick Fernandes and James Pereira, both from Velim, were caught red-handed in the act by the mobile squad of the forest department. Four frogs were found in their possession.

Headlight torches that they were carrying with them were seized by a team headed by range forest officer (RFO) Narayan Waingankar of Pissonem range.
They were detained at the Pissonem range office for further interrogation. They will be produced before the JMFC, Quepem, on Monday.
