MUZAFFARNAGAR: Two people, including a five-year-old girl, died after a speeding pick-up truck collided with an
e-rickshaw
ferrying several minor schoolchildren from Adampur village to a private school in Shahpur area of
Muzaffarnagar
on Thursday morning.

(Budhana) Gajendra Pal Singh said, "Emergency services rushed to the accident spot and shifted all the injured people to hospital, where doctors declared Varnika, 5, and Mohammad Nazim, 28, dead on arrival.
Those in hospital include Vaidika (8), Sana (7), Jainab (6), Alina (8) and e-rickshaw driver Tehsin Ahmed (44)."
According to police, Nazim, who hailed from the same village, requested Tehsin to drop him off at Shahpur. However, the incident occurred near a brick kiln. DSP Singh said, "A case has been registered under IPC section 304A (causing death by negligence). The driver of the pick-up truck fled. Police teams have been deployed to arrest him."
