NEW DELHI/NOIDA: Traffic restrictions at Delhi's borders will be likely tightened Wednesday as

farmers

in Punjab resume their 'Delhi Chalo'

march

and police scale up deployment at the capital's entry points, which have been heavily fortified for over a week.
The Singhu and Tikri borders with Haryana stay sealed, but it's UP Gate border that may see the biggest jams because of heavy rush on Delhi-Meerut Expressway and NH-9. Traffic is also likely to be hit in central Delhi because of barricading.
Armed with tractor-trailers, bulldozers, cranes and diggers, over 20,000 protesting farmers at Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana are set to resume their march to Delhi at 11am Wednesday.
During the previous round of farmers' agitation last week, UP Gate had seen 7-8km tailbacks a couple of times.

The Delhi-Gurgaon border will be under close police watch but no traffic advisory has yet been issued. On Tuesday, a group of 80 farmers who had gathered in Manesar for a march to the PM's residence was detained and sent back.
In Noida, DND Flyway, Kalindi Kunj and Chilla remain similarly barricaded as last week. Police checks will likely be stepped up here too, so it may take longer to get through. Traffic in Greater Noida could take a hit, with a group of local farmers - in a protest unrelated to that of Punjab farmers - expected to take out a protest march, affecting traffic between Pari Chowk and Surajpur.
