Traffic restrictions, diversions in place for opposition rally today in Delhi

Vehicular movement will be diverted at Rajghat Chowk, Minto Road, DDU Marg, Mirdard Chowk, Paharganj Chowk, A Point, and Delhi Gate

NEW DELHI:

Delhi Traffic Police

has issued an advisory to commuters for the

INDIA bloc’s rally at Ramlila Maidan

on Sunday..
Traffic police will curb traffic movement on the Ranjeet Singh Flyover from Barakhamba Road to Guru Nanak Chowk;

Vivekanand Marg

from Minto Road to Kamla Market roundabout; Kamla Market roundabout to Guru Nanak Chowk; Guru Nanak Chowk to Turkman Gate; Hamdard Chowk; JLN Marg from Delhi Gate to Guru Nanak Chowk; Ajmeri Gate; and Chaman Lal Marg near VIP Gate.

These restrictions will be in effect from 9am to 3 pm.
Vehicular movement will be diverted at Rajghat Chowk, Minto Road, DDU Marg, Mirdard Chowk, Paharganj Chowk, A Point, and Delhi Gate. A parking plan is also in place to prevent obstruction of traffic movement on roads. For the organisers, an alighting point and parking has been provided at Ramlila Maidan. Entry into the ground will be from Chaman Lal Marg.
Other parking has been arranged on Rajghat Powerhouse Road, Shantivan Service Road, and Shantivan parking for buses and cars. Additionally, parking has been provided at Velodrome Road, Rajghat service lane, and Salimgarh bypass for buses.

Delhi Police have made elaborate arrangements to avert any untoward incident. A police source said that they will be deploying more than 2,000 police personnel alongwith paramilitary forces. “We have given permission for 20,000 people. Police personnel will be deployed at strategic locations,” the source said.
An officer said that section 144 will remain imposed at the DDU Marg and no march will be allowed from the Ramlila Maidan. “Barricades have been put in place to prevent any march towards DDU Marg where the offices of political parties are located,” the officer added.
