NEW DELHI: India's biggest and brightest sporting stars will be under one roof at the

Times of India Sports Awards

(TOISA)

2023

which will be held in Lucknow on February 23, 2024.
Honouring the top

Indian athletes

and their relentless pursuit for excellence, the sixth edition of TOISA will be award the stars who shone the brightest in 2023.
The theme of the awards -- #MoreSweatMoreGlory -- is a tribute to the indomitable spirit of our athletes and para-athletes across different sports.

The assessment period for the awards was from January 1 to December 31, 2023 and the list of award winners was drawn by the eminent

TOISA 2023

Jury chaired by Adille Sumariwalla, who heads the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) and is the vice-president of World Athletics.

Under the chairmanship of Adille, the TOISA 2023 Jury comprised of former long-jumper and senior vice-president of AFI, Anju Bobby George; badminton coach and two-time Padma awardee Pullela Gopichand; Olympic medal-winning wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt; Olympic medallist shooter and Indian Olympic Association vice-president Gagan Narang; Paralympic medallist and Padma Shri awardee Deepa Malik; Olympic medal-winning weightlifter Karnam Malleswari; and Zafar Iqbal, member of India's gold medal-winning hockey team at the 1980 Olympics.

Eabad Ali
Date of Birth: 16/04/94
Place of Birth: Unchegaon, Uttar Pradesh
Sport: Sailing
Event: Windsurfer RS:X
Major Achievements in 2023:
Won a bronze medal in the Windsurfer RS:X event at the Asian Games in Hangzhou
Eabad created history at the Asian Games by winning India's first ever international medal in windsurfing. The 29-year-old sailor is a Havaldar in the Indian Army and trains at the Army Yatching Node in Mumbai.
Vishnu Sarvanan
Date of Birth: 24/02/99
Place of Birth: Vellore, Tamil Nadu
Sport: Sailing
Event: Dinghy-ILCA7
Major Achievements in 2023:
Won a bronze medal in men's Dinghy-ILCA7 at the Asian Games in Hangzhou
Joining as Naib Subedar in the Indian Army in 2017, Vishu

Saravanan

lived up to his reputation at the Asian Games by winning a bronze medal in the men's Dinghy-ILCA7 event. He had won a bronze medal at the Under-21 World Championships in Croatia in 2019 to emerge as one of the most promising sailors in the country.

Date of Birth: 2006
Place of Birth: Dewas, Madhya Pradesh
Sport: Sailing
Event: Dinghy-ILCA4
Major Achievements in 2023:
Won a silver medal in girls Dinghy-ILCA4 event at the Asian Games in Hangzhou
The 17-year-old Neha from MP finished second at the Asian Games in the fiercely competitive girls Dinghy-ILCA4 event. She was the best Indian sailor on show in Hangzhou, finishing highest on the podium among the three Indian medallists in sailing.
