NEW DELHI: Tesla founder Elon Musk has reportedly postponed his trip to India where he was scheduled to meet
Prime Minister
Narendra
Modi
and announce a much-awaited plan to make Tesla electric cars in the country , a Reuters report said citing sources.
Musk was expected to announce his ambitious project, groundwork for which is being done for years. The project is likely to see Tesla commit at least $2-3 billion investment as it sets up a factory to manufacture entry-level electric cars (speculated as Model 2, notwithstanding the recent question marks around the development of the product), to be priced around Rs 25 lakh.
He was also expected to meet executives from several space startups in New Delhi.
Musk is awaiting government's regulatory approvals to begin offering his Starlink satellite broadband services in India.
Earlier, Musk who also owns X (formerly Twitter), confirmed his trip and meeting with
PM
Modi.
"Looking forward to meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in India," he wrote on X.
