On March 13th, a protest truck organized by dedicated fans of the group
TEMPEST
was stationed outside the headquarters of Yuehua Korea, the company representing the group. The truck bore a clear message advocating for justice for
Hwarang
and expressing fervent hopes for his reinstatement within the group. The call for justice stemmed from recent events, notably on March 6th, when Hwarang announced a temporary hiatus from his activities due to a controversy surrounding his personal life.
The controversy erupted when Hwarang made comments during a video fan call seemingly alluding to a visit to a club.
When a fan mentioned seeing him at a club, Hwarang responded by acknowledging his presence but firmly denied engaging in any inappropriate behavior, expressing his genuine intentions. However, despite his explanation, it was met with widespread criticism, prompting an official apology from Hwarang. Subsequently, Yuehua Korea announced the suspension of Hwarang's activities, citing a failure to rebuild trust with the public.
Yuehua had said in a statement, "We want to inform you regarding the private life of artist Hwarang that was circulated via social media. We sincerely apologize for causing concern to fans who were worried by our agency artist Hwarang’s actions. The truth is different than the information circulated on social media, and Hwarang is deeply reflecting on visiting the place in question. He has promised not to repeat this behavior, and the agency and artist Hwarang will take special care so that this does not happen again. We once again apologize deeply for causing concern to fans and the TEMPEST members at this time ahead of their comeback." Additionally, Hwarang voluntarily stepped down from his position as a fixed MC on the show 'Show! Champion'.
