She has been sent to 14-days judicial remand. Turns out, the 25-year-old from Narketpalle had always dreamt of donning the uniform.

Armed with a master’s degree in chemistry from a reputed institute in Hyderabad, Malavika even cleared the entrance for recruitment of SIs in RPF in 2018. But then, she was rejected during the medical test.
While a dejected Malavika initially kept a low profile, in 2023 she emerged from the dark and decided to wear the khaki nonetheless – with or without the job. According to police, such was her obsession with the uniform that she donned it everywhere she went — on trains, at places of worship and even family functions. Her ‘act’ was so convincing that a private establishment in Nalgonda even invited her as key speaker at their women’s day event held on March 8.

Her social media game was also growing with over 500 followers on Instagram.
But perhaps Malavika took it too far when she turned up at her own engagement ceremony earlier this month in Nalgonda, wearing her khakis. “That’s when her fiancé, an IT professional, grew suspicious and started making inquiries with the RPF personnel. Soon, he realised that Malavika was impersonating and that did not have any job,” said Shaikh Salima, superintendent of police, RPF, Secunderabad.
According to her, Malavika was enjoying several privileges, including VIP darshan in temples, because of her uniform.
“We are also verifying to see if she misused her ‘position’ and indulged in illegal activities. This case is also a warning to anybody trying to impersonate cops. They should know that they’ll face strict action,” she added.
