Teen in stolen Land Rover kills 73-year-old in Long Island crash: police

CENTEREACH, N.Y. (PIX11) – A teenager in a stolen Land Rover rear ended another car in Centereach Saturday evening, killing a 73-year-old woman, according to the Suffolk County Police Department. 

Police suspect the 16-year-old was “impaired by drugs” and attempted to flea the scene, according to the SCPD. 

Pedestrian fatally struck on Long Island: police

The teenager was driving eastbound on Middle Country Road when he crashed into the back of a car with a 73-year-old driver and 50-year-old passenger, police said. 

The driver was rushed to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead, police said. The passenger had serious injuries and was also taken to an area hospital, according to the SCPD. 

The teenager now faces charges including driving while ability impaired by drugs and leaving the scene of a fatal crash, police said. 

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555.
