PUNE: The chief executive officer (

CEO

) of Talegaon Dabhade Municipal Council was booked on the charge of

drunk driving

after he drove an

SUV

in an inebriated state and hit two

cars

around 2.40pm on Saturday.
The owner of one of the damaged cars, Siddharam Lonikar, filed a complaint with the Talegaon Dabhade police. A case of rash and negligent driving was registered against the CEO, NK Patil.

No one was injured in the accident.
The police conducted a medical examination of the CEO and the reports are awaited.
TOI made calls several times on Saturday night, but the CEO's phone was switched off till the time of going to press.

"The complainant claimed that Patil was driving in an inebriated condition. Lonikar and others pulled the CEO out of the driver's seat. Hence, we invoked the drunk driving charge against the CEO," Pradeep Rayannawar, senior inspector of the Talegaon Dabhade police, said.
"After the SUV hit two vehicles, he fled. Our team went to his home to take him to the police station. Patil had gone near the Talegaon railway station and was heading towards his office when he lost control over the vehicle," he said.
