CHENNAI: Former Tamil Nadu chief minister
O Panneerselvam
on Thursday announced that his support to the BJP was unconditional and his group would contest on
AIADMK

two leaves symbol
in general elections.
He made the announcement soon after state-level office bearers and district secretaries of his “Urimai Meetpu Kuzhu” passed a resolution authorising him to take electoral strategies.
“Modi has rolled out several welfare schemes in the last ten years and brought glory to India. For us, Modi should become the third-time Prime Minister,” Panneerselvam told reporters later. He was flanked by former ministers Panruti S Ramachandran and MLAs R Vaithilingam and Paul Manoj Pandian.
OPS said the alliance talks with the BJP were still on and there was no issue between the allies. His group withdrew nomination from the bypoll to Erode East assembly constituency following a request from BJP state president K Annamalai with an intention to reap the victory as the DMK failed to fulfil poll promises and law and order deteriorated. AIADMK led by Edappadi K Palaniswami, however, lost the election by a margin of 66,000 votes as people did not accept him, Panneerselvam said.
He said the Election Commission granted two leaves symbol (to the AIADMK) as a temporary measure given the pendency of his civil suit in the Madras high court. “It hangs in balance. There will be a good outcome. We are certain about contesting on the two leaves symbol,” the ousted AIADMK leader said.
