NEW YORK (PIX11) – Some TD Bank customers may notice a random credit given to their account by the bank.
That's because it's a refund for balance inquiry fees charged at ATMs not owned by TD Bank, a spokesperson told PIX11 News.
"Following an internal review, we determined that a refund for a balance inquiry fee charged via a non-TD ATM will be reimbursed to TD customers," the national bank said in a statement.
Customers can expect to see a check or credit directly to their bank account, according to the spokesperson. It’s unclear how many people are expected to receive the credit, but those who were impacted will receive a letter from TD Bank explaining the refund and who to contact for more information.
It's also not known how much customers could expect to get.
ATM fees increased to an average of $4.77 in 2024, according to a study from finance website Bankrate. Fees for using ATMs cost around $4.73 in 2023, Bankrate said.
