A

farmer

(30) from Shirur has lodged a complaint with the Hinjewadi

police

saying that four people, including a woman, cheated him of Rs69 lakhs by promising him over 10% return on

investment

in their company.
The

cheating

, according to the Hinjewadi police, took place between Nov 2021 and May 2022.
The suspects, all hailing from different parts of Maharashtra, claimed that they were running a firm in Hinjewadi.

They conducted seminars and workshops urging people at large to invest in their company, promising handsome returns.
The farmer attended a workshop after learning about the company's investment plan. After attending the workshop, the farmer decided to invest money in the firm.
Citing FIR, the police said that the farmer did not receive any returns in the last two years and he visited the office last year to check on his investment. The officers promised him returns as well as his initial investment. But earlier this year, the company shut down its office and the suspects have not been traced yet.
