have reclaimed their top position in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) Rankings after winning the
Thailand Open
title last week.
The Asian Games gold medalist pair emerged victorious in the
men's doubles final
, defeating
China's Chen Bo Yang
and Liu Yi in straight sets, securing their second Thailand Open title since their first win in 2019.
According to the latest updated rankings released on Tuesday, '
Sat-Chi
' has ascended two spots to regain the top rank, accumulating 99,670 points. The world number three pair outplayed Chen and Yi with a 21-15 21-15 victory, clinching their ninth BWF world tour title and their second title of the year, following their French Open triumph in March.
Satwik expressed his thoughts after winning the crown, as quoted by BAI, "Thailand Open has been a special tournament for us as we won our first Super 500 crown here and have won many more tournaments thereafter. We are hoping that this victory will start another winning run for us." Regarding their performance in the final, Satwik stated that they played their best game against their Chinese opponents, adding, "We knew that we could not relax even for a single point against our opponents as they fight till the end. But we played our best game of the tournament today and controlled the situation very well."
In other notable ranking changes, the Indian pair of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa, who reached the semifinals of the Thailand Open, have also climbed two spots to reach number 19.
Additionally, shuttler Meiraba Luwang Masnam, who had an impressive run in the tournament, reaching the quarterfinals by defeating world number nine HS Prannoy and world number 54 Mads Christensen, has climbed 13 spots to reach world number 71.
