The film fraternity bid farewell to veteran director

, who passed away on May 8 after battling health issues. The last rites of the filmmaker took place at the Oshiwara Crematorium on Thursday, which saw a gathering of industry colleagues, friends, and admirers.

The director had been undergoing treatment for a urinary infection at
Kokilaben Hospital
in Mumbai. Sadly, on Wednesday, he suffered a cardiac arrest, leading to his untimely demise, as confirmed by Sangeeth Sivan's brother, Sanjeev Sivan.

Sangeeth Sivan, known for his contributions to Indian cinema, was the eldest son of photographer-cinematographer Sivan. He is survived by his wife, Jayashree, and their children, Sanjana and Shanthanu.
Sangeeth began his film career as an assistant to his father before turning professional as the writer and executive producer of the Hindi film Raakh (1989). His second film after becoming a full-time director was Yoddha (1992), one of the biggest hits in Malayalam cinema.
He directed a few more films in Malayalam before shifting to Mumbai, where directed seven Hindi films and a few web series, including Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne, Kyaa Kool Hai Hum, Apna Sapna Money Money and Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 among others.
