district, a salon owner barged into the house of his neighbour and killed his two minor sons aged 13 and 6. Soon after the incident, a heavy crowd gathered and set a few shops on fire while demanding action against the accused. The accused was later killed in a

police encounter

The incident was reported at around 8 pm when Mohd Sajid (22), who runs a salon shop in Baba colony of Budaun city barged into the house of contractor Vinod Thakur and killed his sons--Ayush (13), Ahaan alias Honey (06) -- with a sharp weapon. Vinod’s third son Piyush (8) was slightly injured. He was taken to the hospital. Since the accused belongs to another community, tension prevailed in the city and locals gathered towards a place of worship in anger however, the situation was timely controlled by police. The reason behind the incident is still unknown. Later SSP Alok Priyadarshi informed the protesters that Sajid was killed in a police encounter.

Sources in police said that there was some dispute over money which led to the incident.

SSP told TOI, “Sajid, a resident of Alapur area of Budaun, had brutally murdered two minor siblings and was hiding in a forest area. When a police team tried to arrest him, he opened fire at them and was injured in retaliatory firing. We rushed him to the hospital but he succumbed to injuries. We are still investigating the motive behind the double murder.”
