Rohit Sharma among 10 World Cup squad members arrive in New York; Kohli, Hardik to join team later

was among the 10 members of the India squad who arrived in New York on Sunday morning for the

T20 World Cup

, while notable absentees in the initial batch included

Virat Kohli

and vice-captain

Hardik Pandya

.
Head coach

Rahul Dravid

and the rest of the support staff also travelled with the team.
The squad members who arrived included Rohit, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel.

Reserve players Shubman Gill and Khaleel Ahmed accompanied them.
Kohli, who played in the IPL Eliminator in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, and Hardik, who travelled to the UK after the IPL league stage, are expected to join the squad later.

Players from Rajasthan Royals, including Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Yuzvendra Chahal, and reserve player Avesh Khan, will depart for New York on Monday after being involved in the Qualifier 2 in Chennai on Friday night.
India's only World Cup warm-up match is against Bangladesh at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, where they will also play three league games, including a highly anticipated clash against Pakistan on June 9.

With most of their league games at the same venue,

Team India

aims to capitalise on the warm-up game to acclimatise to the conditions.
Construction of the modular stadium with a drop-in pitch was completed earlier this month, with work starting in January to ensure readiness for the tournament.
India, who have not won an ICC title since 2013, play Ireland in their World Cup opener on June 5.
USA is co-hosting an ICC event for the first time and its national team will also be making its debut in the global competition.
