Toni Kroos may have retired from professional football, but his influence at Real Madrid is far from over.

In fact, according to Fichajes, the former German international has advised the club to consider signing AC Milan star Tijjani Reijnders as part of their upcoming squad rebuild.

Even though Kroos is no longer on the pitch, his opinions still hold weight at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The club legend continues to keep a close eye on Madrid’s performances and has not shied away from offering his thoughts on the areas that need improvement following a disappointing campaign.

Reijnders impresses Kroos

Kroos has been vocal in his praise for top young players, including Barcelona’s Pedri, who he believes is currently the best in his role. But knowing a move for Pedri is nearly impossible, he has instead suggested a more realistic target in Reijnders.

The AC Milan midfielder has caught Kroos’ attention with his performances, especially during matches played at the Bernabeu.

According to the outlet, in a casual conversation with top Real Madrid officials, including Florentino Perez, Kroos described Reijnders as a complete midfielder, someone who can control the tempo, contribute defensively, and create chances going forward.

Juni Calafat, the club’s head scout, has already been tracking Reijnders closely. His skill set fits the kind of player Real Madrid need in the middle of the park as they prepare for a new era under Xabi Alonso.

However, signing him won’t be simple as Milan see Reijnders as a key part of their project and are unlikely to let him go cheaply.

While Real Madrid have several areas to address for the 2025–26 season, Kroos believes that signing Reijnders should be a top priority.

The strong relationship between Real Madrid and AC Milan could play a key role if negotiations begin, but the final decision will likely come down to whether Madrid are willing to meet Milan’s demands.
