Rasmalai

has ranked second amongst the world’s top cheese desserts in a list released by TasteAtlas, a food and travel guide platform. Topping the list is a dessert called Sernik, from Poland. Also known as ‘Rosomalai’ or ‘Roshmalai’, the dessert which originated in Bengal, consists of flattened balls of chenna (a type of cheese) soaked in malai and flavoured with cardamom. Most popular during festivals like Holi and Diwali, almonds, cashews and saffron are often added to this dessert to make it even richer and fulfilling. The list consisted of multiple different forms of cheesecakes, with Greece being the only nation with two different entries in the top 10.
