Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt tied the knot on the terrace of their Mumbai home on April 14, 2022. However, according to Ranbir's mother, actor Neetu Kapoor, the two stars had been planning a destination wedding for two years before opting to exchange vows at home.

In a widely shared video clip, Neetu Kapoor remarks, "Ranbir and Alia had planned so much, saying 'We'll go to South Africa, we'll do a recce,' but where did they end up? At their home. For two years, we were planning to go here, scrolling through pictures. We were going absolutely nuts."

Nevertheless, Neetu, in an interview with Film Companion, confessed that Ranbir and Alia's wedding surpassed expectations. The baraat procession traversed from the fifth floor to the seventh floor of a Mumbai building, and Ranbir's family danced in the passage.

The viral clip also captures Alia describing her wedding aspirations to Mid Day. She says, "I don’t like to show off; it’s actually very stressful for me. The idea of taking people and travelling to another location and setting up that place—that’s just too stressful for me. I literally wanted to get out of my room, go to the makeup room I get ready in every day, and then go get married."

She further elaborates, "It is exactly what happened. It was perfect... and I got to interact with everybody because there were only 40 people. That’s just exactly the kind of people we are. We are not big celebratory people.”

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor exchanged vows in the presence of only close friends and family members. In November 2022, they welcomed their first child, daughter Raha.
